We Pay Eddie A Visit
Fri 27th Aug 2010
We had a stop to make on the way home tonight so apologies to everyone for being late again. Razzi and I stopped off to visit the one and only Eddie Bear; the very first Renault Bear we rescued.
As most of you who have been following the blog for a while will know, Eddie does not live with us at the Bear Sanctuary. Eddie lives a life of luxury with my daughter in Pixy Towers where he infrequently moves from his bed and where he enjoys his daytime telly. Unlike our Bears, he prefers the QVC Shopping channel and he and his wife Edwina spend a small fortune when let loose on Pixy’s account.
It was nice to see Eddie and Edwina again, even if he could not quite muster up the energy to get out of bed. We just thought it would be nice to pop in and say hello but also to report that Eddie, Edwina and the rest of the Bears at Pixy Towers are all doing fine.
Eddie Revisits Cuba
Fri 29th Jan 2010
Hello everyone, Eddie Bear here.
I thought because Davidd mentioned it yesterday, I would pop along today and tell all my Bear friends about my Christmas adventures in Cuba. I have many opportunities as a Bear to travel the world, so this Christmas I decided to take Pixy to Cuba again. We went to Cuba a couple of years ago and had such a wonderful time we thought we would return. After all, England is far too cold for a delicate Bear such as me, so we jetted off for sunnier climes.
I arrived on the sunny island of Guardalavaca where the temperature was 88 degrees. That is warm enough for a Bear, especially when it was below freezing in England and everyone was moaning about the snow and ice. The sun was lovely and warm and so I really had to slap on the suntan lotion. I did not want to get burnt and end up with wrinkled skin just like Bearkeeper Davidd, who is always burnt on holidays!
Upon arrival at the hotel, our room was lovely and had a great view of the beach. I could not wait to get my trunks on and get down to the pool, but alas, jetlag had set in and Pixy needed 40 winks. Sometimes going on holiday with her is like going on holiday with an old grandmother – she could sleep for England!
Talking of sleep, Davidd has accused Pixy of snoring for years and she has always denied it. Let me tell you, she kept me awake night after night with her snoring. She is in denial saying that she does not snore because, believe me, I had to borrow her earplugs she was that loud!
The food in Cuba was lovely. I was worried beforehand in case they did not know how to make good Jammy Toast but I had no need to worry. All the food there was just what my little round belly needed and it has come back a little bigger than when we left.
Of course, being on holiday with a Pixy means we have to try out the beauty treatments and health spas etc. It does get very boring when all a Bear really wants to do is soak up the rays on the beach.
So, off we went to visit the spa and I even had a little Bear Jacuzzi. I tried to get the masseuse to rub my back but she was having none of it. She said something about how she was there for humans and not Bears. This was a typical example of the prejudice that we Bears always have to put with. However, to cheer me up, Tracy did give me a little rubdown, as my bum was still a little numb from the plane journey.
I must say the Cubans (except for the masseuse) are very accommodating to little Bears and our maid kept leaving me little presents. One day, I came back from a hard days sunbathing and there was an elephant on my bed! Imagine my surprise. The maid was very talented, and during our stay we had all kinds of animals pay us a little visit. For a while there, I was beginning to think we were on Safari!
The drinks in Cuba were great and I nearly turned into an Alcoholic Bear. My new little Bear tipple is a Piña Colada made with the local rum. I liked it that much that one night Pixy had to carry me home, as I was a little worse for wear. The next morning was a nightmare and I had a massive hangover. I spent the day in bed with a cold flannel on my forehead and some paracetmol. I learned my lesson and took it a little easier for the rest of the holiday. I did not want to end up as Davidd usually does on the “all-inclusive” holidays we have taken together!
Looking back, I have decided I had a lovely time in Cuba and cannot wait for my next Bear adventure to start. I believe my next holiday is going to be to Amsterdam, so watch out for future stories of a stoner Bear having fun there.
Latest Bear News…
Thu 28th Jan 2010
Some of you may have noticed we have had a little bit of a tidy up around the blog. We had fallen behind slightly with updates on our Mystique theme and so last night we upgraded it to the very latest version. There are some fun new gadgets included in the latest theme and some bugs have been ironed out by Milenko over at digitalnature.
Amongst some of the new features included in the latest theme is the use of “timesince” dates on subscriber comments. Pretty much the same as you see on Facebook, all comments now record how long ago the comment was made instead of the exact time it was added. A nice little touch is the inclusion of a little country flag next to your comments. Many of the updates are to do with speed of loading, which, as far as we can tell, seems to have made the blog feel more responsive and the pages load quicker. There is also the promise of a Facebook connector above the menus to add to the Twitter and RSS Feeds connectors already in place.
Not to be outdone by the update, Egginanoo (who does all our artwork) decided it was time to change the colour scheme. She has decided to give us a more dulled down grey scheme instead of the blue one we were using. She even let Razzi pick the flock wallpaper for the background. This had quite a good effect because it took his mind off the loss of his beloved Debbie!
All seems to be quiet on the new arrivals front. eBay is unusually quiet which could be the time of year or could mean we will soon be inundated with new Bears. You never can tell.
While updating the blog, I was looking back at some of the older posts and noticed that it is over three years now since our first Bear, Eddie, came to join us. Little did we think when we embarked on our first Egyptian adventure with Eddie how far this Bear fixation would go? Eddie does not live with us at the Bear Sanctuary; instead, he lives with Pixy and has only just returned from a Christmas/New Year break in Cuba. While there, he was only a few miles away from Haiti when the earthquake hit the island. However, maybe that is a story for another day…

The Infamous Eddie Bear
Hello Everyone,
Today I’m off work, I’m feeling crappy and not full of the joys, I’m in bed watching daft television and staring out of the window. I have a friend with me, a friend who is always there. He never strays too far and always listens to me whenever I need a furry ear. Eddie is the best Bear in the world and I love him dearly. He was a loan from a very dear friend, and he has helped me through a number of horrit times over the past year or so. Eddie and I haven’t seen this friend in a long time because he now lives down in London but every so often we think about him and I know Eddie misses him a lot. We always wonder what he is doing and we hope he is okay. We both miss him dreadfully and love it when he gets in touch with us even if it is just to let us know he is okay.
I hope you all have a nice weekend and that you have your own Eddie who loves you as much as you love them.
Love always Pixy and Eddie xxx
